- This is a centrally sponsored scheme

- It was approved by GoI in 2010 for integrated development of 1000 SC majority villages

- Aim is to ensure all round development of selected villages through physical and social infrastructure under the following categories:

- The Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) was approved by the Government in 2010 for integrated development of 1000 Scheduled Castes (SCs)-majority villages.

- Housing,

- Electricity,

- Roads,

- Safe drinking water,

- Sanitary toilets

- School,

- Health care centres,

- Anganwadis,

- Panchayat halls

- Scheme aims at integrated development of villages through merging of state and central government schemes and filling the gap of central assistance at the rate of INR 20 lakhs per village

Facts and Stats

Number of villages under the following states were covered:

- Assam: 100

- Bihar: 225

- Himachal Pradesh: 225

- Rajasthan: 225

- Tamil Nadu: 225

In January, 2015 the scheme was approved for expansion to cover 1500 new SC majority villages across 10 new States, as follows:

- Uttar Pradesh,

- West Bengal,

- Madhya Pradesh,

- Karnataka,

- Punjab,

- Uttarakhand,

- Odisha,

- Chhattisgarh,

- Jharkhand and

- Assam.
