Sample letter to close a shop

With a heavy heart, I write this letter to inform you of my intent to close down my on-going business of the stationary shop. I will be shifting back to my hometown at Lucknow to take care of my aged parents, who seek moral and physical support for their day-to-day activities.

I am currently left with no other option than to wind up my business and bring our 10 years long tenant-landlord relationship to an end.

I will be vacating the space on 28th Feb’14 and hand over the keys to you on the same day. You can personally have a look for the furnishing and the various belongings, which I will make sure to be in working condition while handing over the keys.

As I am vacating within the lease term, I will also bear 2 months rental amount, that has been paid as an advance at the time of renewal of lease, as per the agreement.

Kindly forgive me for any ups and downs during these years and keep in touch.

I believe we all understand that not all businesses are meant to go on for life. Sometimes, they don’t taste as much success as we expected them to and require to be closed down. With a heavy heart, I announce to all my customers that Jane’s Boutique will have to be closed down on April 2nd.

Due to the sudden downturn of the economy we have been struggling to manage the business. Sales have taken a hit and profit levels have decreased drastically. In such a scenario, we cannot continue to operate the business. But before we go out of business, we are having a sale on the remaining stock. We have even better deals for our regular customers.

All transactions that take place between us before the closing would be honoured. We expect any outstanding payments to be cleared. Normal exchange policies are applicable for garments purchased during the sale, however no refund would be allowed as usual. Online orders before 2nd April will be honoured and website will be non functional after 2nd of April.

It was our privilege to serve you over the years and regret any inconvenience we would cause due to the closure. Owing to the massive sale, stuffs will move quickly, so come take advantage of it at the earliest.

We truly thank you for your loyalty and continued patronage over the years. See you at the sale.
