Sample letter to inform school of pupil's absence

I am Mr. Diptesh Nagpal, father of Viraj Nagpal, Std. XI (Roll. No.: 26, Div. B). This is to inform you know that my son won’t be able to attend his classes due to an injured leg. He is instructed complete bed rest for a period of ten days by the family physician.

In this regard, I’d request you to grant him leave for ten working days, starting tomorrow, i.e. 23rd Feb,’14 till 10th March,’14. As I clearly understand that this is very close to the
mid-term examinations and thus the assignments and weekly tests would be missed out by him, which might actually hamper my son’s annual report card. Moreover, going by the rules and regulations mentioned in the almanac, he might not be allowed to sit in the annual exams with la below average score in the weekly tests.

As you might clearly understand being a parent yourself, that this is a crucial academic year since the final boards exam lies ahead of this year. Hence, being a concerned parent, beg to state that my son be granted the average marks in all the tests that he won’t be able to attend, on medical grounds. The documents supporting the same would be furnished once he resumes classes.

Hope my concern would be understood with due consideration to the seriousness of the circumstances and the the leave would be granted at the earliest.

My son, ABC, is a student of class X ‘A’ of your school. I want to inform you that he will not be able to attend his classes for around a week or ten days. He is suffering from chicken pox and doctor has advised strict bed rest for him.

He got high fever yesterday and got some spots on his hand, due to which we thought of visiting our family doctor. He was diagnosed for chicken pox and complete rest. His fever is still keeping high and the rashes has increased overnight. I do have the responsibility of preventing the infection from spreading to other students and the faculty members.

I understand your school policy that he needs 95% attendance to attend his annual examination, but I am in a fix for his inability to attend the classes due to serious health concerns. I will produce a medical certificate that I will get submitted with his class teacher tomorrow itself. I will also make sure to submit his fitness certificate on his joining. I hope you can consider this as a valid reason for his absence and permit him to attend the annual exams.

I also assure you to get his topics covered on time of his joining, so that he can catch up with the class. I will teach him all his chapters and make him understand his lessens as well.

I just want you to provide him the relaxation from your attendance policy. I will be very grateful to you.

    Thanking you in anticipation.
