1. When was State Bank of Travancore established?


The bank was established in 1945 as the Travancore bank Ltd, at the initiative of C. P. Ramaswami Iyer, then Divan of Travancore. Its registered office was at Madras. In 1960, it became a subsidiary of State Bank of India under the SBI Subsidiary Banks Act, 1959, enacted by the Parliament of India. Travancore government put up only 25% of the capital, the bank undertook government treasury work and foreign exchange business, apart from its general banking business. Between 1959 and 1965, SBT acquired numerous small, private banks in Kerala.

Educational Qualifications: You must have done MSW/ M.Com/ M.A in Rural Development/MSc/ M.A in Sociology/ BA/ BSC with B.Ed. and applicant should have minimum of 3 to 5 years teaching experience for Faculty post

For the post of Office Assistant you should have done BSW/ B.A/ B.Com/ B.Sc with knowledge in basic accounts from any recognized university.

Age Details: Your age should be between 20 to 45 years of age for Faculty/ Attender positions.

For the post of Office Assistants your age must not less than 20 years and not more than 35 years, Upper age limitation will be given for Reserved Category as per SBT board norms.

4. What is the selection procedure?


If you have the right educational qualification and correct age then selection procedure is by written test and interview.

5. What is the syllabus of written test for clerk recruitment?


The written test will be of Objective type consisting of

(i)General Awareness (ii) General English (iii) Quantitative Aptitude (iv) Reasoning Ability (v) Marketing Aptitude / Computer Knowledge.

The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be printed bilingual i.e., English & Hindi.

There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.

The passing marks in each of the tests will be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performance of all the competing candidates taken together in each test to a minimum required level.
Candidates are also required to score a minimum percentage marks on aggregate to be considered for interview. For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates, 5% relaxation is available thereon. Minimum percentage marks on aggregate will be decided by the bank.

6. What is Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) of SBT?


State Bank of Travancore Rural Development Trust (SBTRDT) is running 4 Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) at Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Wynad. RSETIs are managed by Banks with active co-operation from the Government of India and State Government.

Dedicated institutions designed as to ensure necessary skill training and skill up gradation of the rural BPL youth to mitigate the unemployment problem.

7. What kinds of programs are offered by RSETIs?


RSETI offers 30 to 40 skill development programs in a financial year in various avenues. Duration of programs ranges from 1 to 6 weeks and could fall into the categories listed below:

Programs on agriculture– agriculture and allied activities like dairy, poultry, apiculture, horticulture, sericulture, mushroom cultivation, floriculture, fisheries, etc

Product based Programme – dress designing for men and women, rexine articles, incense sticks manufacturing, football making, bag, bakery products, leaf cup making, recycled paper manufacturing, etc.

Process Programmes – two wheeler repairs, radio/TV repairs, motor rewinding, electrical transformer repairs, irrigation pump-set repairs, tractor and power tiller repairs, cell phone repairs, beautician course, photography and videography, screen printing, domestic electrical appliances repair, computer hardware and DTP.

General Programmes – skill development for women

Other Programmes – related to other sectors like leather, construction, hospitality and any other sector depending on local requirements.

Training programmes will be decided by the institute based on the local resource situation and potential demand for the products/services.

8. I am applying for State Bank of Travancore Development Trust vacancy, what are the duties of office assistant?


Mentioned below are the Duties and Responsibility of Office Assistant:

- Office assistant has to assist the Director and Faculty in functioning of the Institute to achieve the Objectives of the organization
- He has to maintain the accounts books, preparation and maintenance of vouchers, following the prescribed procedure for managing the accounts of the Institute.
-He/She has to maintain all the books and registers of the institutes (Manual/Electronic).
-To create, maintain and update data relating to training and all the activities of the institute.
-To prepare periodical reports which are submitted to the Controlling office, Ministry and other agencies.
-To organize the required logistics for the Training programmes including boarding and lodging to the trainees.

The Bank take care the needs of farmers through its rural and semi-urban branches. There are specialized Krishi Point Branches totally dedicated to agricultural advances. The Bank also encourages investment credit activities such as dairy, poultry, piggery, fishery, plantation, horticulture, construction of rural godowns and warehouses etc.

Attention is paid on Farm mechanization and and Hi-Tech Agriculture. It has also introduced the revised Kisan Credit Card Scheme, for farmers with more flexibility to purchase agricultural inputs, maintenance and repair of agri. implements and meet some consumption requirements.

Bank also has introduced scheme to extend assistance to tenant farmers who are holding only leasehold rights over the land in which they cultivate. Large areas of fallow lands are being brought under cultivation under this Scheme.
