1. What is the examination for? Who conducts it?


UPESEAT is an entrance examination for engineering courses in University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Dehradun, Uttarakhand India. UPES is a private university and is well renowned for its research in energy and power sector.

2. What is/are the college/colleges covered under this examination?


UPES is a deemed university and conducts its own examinations, UPESEAT covers admissions in all departments of engineering in UPES, Dehradun.

3. How to apply for UPESEAT?


Registration for UPES can be done via online and offline means. You can apply online via logging in to the official UPES website: http://www.upes.ac.in/

- Online: Once the admission process is over you can make the payment by online means such as Debit Cards, Net Banking and Credit Cards.
- Offline: Application forms for UPESEAT are available from the admission centres of selected cities.

These cities are:

Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai

4. What is the eligibility criterion?


UPES has 2 criteria for selection of students:

1. On the basis of UPESEAT
2. On the basis of JEE Mains/ Boards

80% of the total seats are reserved for students applying through UPESEAT and 20% for the latter.

UPESEAT:

- Candidate must have passed his 12th from CBSE, ICSE, equivalent state or any other recognizable board
- Candidate must have score minimum 60% aggregate marks overall.
- Candidate must have obtained minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Boards:

- Candidate must have score minimum 80% aggregate marks overall.
- Candidate must have obtained minimum 80% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

JEE Mains:

- Candidate must have score minimum 60% aggregate marks overall.
- Candidate must have obtained minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- Candidate must have JEE Mains rank within 2,00,000.
- A total of 113 is mandatory for eligibility in college.

5. What is the examination pattern of UPESEAT?


UPESEAT is an offline exam whose duration is 3 hours.

As such there are 5 sections:

- Physics: 50
- Chemistry: 50
- Mathematics: 50
- English Language Comprehension: 30
- Current Affairs: 20

Hence in total there are total 200 questions.

6. What is the generalised selection procedure?


As mentioned before, 80% of the students enrolled are through UPESEAT.

20% of the registration is done by students applying through JEE Mains and Boards eligibility.

The last date of filling application form is approximately by mid May and about a week after than Admit cards are provided online for the eligible candidates.

The exam is held generally by end May every year.

8. What is the cost of application form?


UPESEAT form costs 1750 INR taking offline and paying in cash. The form costs INR 1850 when applying online or sending a DD.

9. How is the student accommodation in UPES?


UPES has a suburban 30 acre campus which has well maintained hostels providing residence to 1045 students. Facilities like Mess, Reading room and newspapers are provided in the hostels.
