What can be done to recover a corrupt BIOS?

The following steps can be performed to recover a corrupt BIOS:

- Boot-block BIOS: certain part of the BIOS does not get overwritten when flashing the BIOS. this area is known as the BOOT Block. The BOOT block can be put to use to recover the BIOS, the method being different according to different types of manufacturers.

- New BIOS Chip: The BIOS chip in current range of motherboards is not user replaceable. However in older motherboards the BIOS CMOS chip used to be user replaceable. So in case of corrupted BIOS the user can replace the chip altogether with a new one.

- Hot-Swapping: This method involves the swapping of the corrupt BIOS with a working BIOS while the system is powered on. Generally not suggested and there are chances to risk both the BIOS.
