Why do you think should we take you for this job?

Most of the candidates would get nervous to hear this question. However, if you go prepared, you will be able to deal with it very easily.

The actual answer to this question lies in the preparation you did before the interview.

So,
- Research and understand the requirements of the position very well
- Map them to your skills set and personal qualities

and this is why the recruiter should hire you.

Let's take an example:
If you have applied to a position for a sales professional who has a good knowledge of various drugs. The qualities you can seel are:
- your communication and negotiation skills
- your knowledge & experience in the pharmaceutical industry or your degree in pharmacy

Fresh graduates can usually talk about their ability to quickly learn new things, carry out instructions effectively and ability to work in a team.

If there are any new things that you are expected to perform in the new job or possess any new qualities, say that you are always open to learn the new things, take up the new challenges and develop new qualities.

  • This question sums up the very reason for the interview. They want to find out which one among the line of candidates is the most suitable one for the position and why. Apart from possessing the qualifications and skills which every other candidate lined outside for the interview must be having, you must mention what makes you excellent in the work and why you would be the best one for the job with your extra achievements and skills that make you outstanding for the position.

Apart from mentioning your extra skills and achievements, you should also show your ardent interest in the work and that you are enthusiastic about it. Your confidence and body language should show that this is one job which you are passionate about doing. This can make your stand out of the lot and give an edge over the others competing to be there.

  • This question gives you an opportunity to pitch yourself as the solution to your employer’s problems. It should not be that you should give the employer reasons for hiring you instead show them that by hiring you they will be at an upper edge and you will be of advantage for them.

If you want to secure the job for yourself, follow these simple steps and you will be good to go.

Firstly, never compare yourself with other colleagues or competitors which will pull you down. Secondly avoid saying since you are hard – working or you gel well in a team hence they should hire you.

To correctly answer this question, you should again have a thorough background research about the job profile and qualities that you will need to succeed in the job.

For Example: If applying in a restaurant for a taster’s job you could say that I think my ability to taste the innate taste of food and each of its ingredients with the knowledge of apt quantity would make me fit for your company and this particular role.
