Why haven’t you got a job yet?

Why haven’t you got a job yet?

This question will usually arise if it has been sometime since you finished your studies and are still in the market without a job.
You can say that, I have been offered some tempting positions in the last few days but had to turn them down as I did not find them right for my candidature. You can follow it up with some examples.

  • If you are a fresher with a gap between your study period and present date, the interviewer will take a sneak peak into the gap undoubtedly. Do not get demotivated. Keep your head up high and tell them the exact reason. You may have your own reason like trainings, preparations in areas you found you were lacking, personal reasons, etc. Just be honest and by that we do not mean "I am not good enough for any of them." Believe in your capabilities, only then can you convince the interviewer about it.

Tell them that you believe in waiting for the right opportunity instead of jumping in with an irrelevant one. You can provide examples of some jobs that were offered to you but you found them irrelevant of your skills and aspirations. Tell them that you find their job perfect for you.
