A firm may gain market leadership against its rival firms by:

a. Entering into an area where the rival firm does not enter – the rival may not be interested or having much knowledge of such area.

b.Entering the same area where the rival firm enters however focussing more upon the least profitable part of that area which can be made profitable gradually.

c.Targetting the profitable segment of the competitors by providing them better alternatives at high value addition.
