Should Maggi Be Banned?

Should Maggi Be Banned?

No one can ever forget the two minute advertisement of Maggi. It is one of the most loved fast-food in India. The fans would now have to deal with a bad news as Indian food inspectors have asked Nestle India to recall a consignment of Maggi Noodles from northern state of U.P. The inspectors claimed that Maggi Noodles contain high levels of MSG and lead. The ongoing problem can also result in a ban on Maggi in India. Do you think Maggi should be banned?

Yes

• If the claim of Indian food inspectors about LEAD content being 17 times higher than the standard is true, then definitely Nestle should be put under the legal scrutiny and Maggi should be banned.

• Maggi Noodles is a junk food that targets youngsters and children. They need healthy food to live a healthy life.

• Till now the tests have shown that Maggi sample contained MSG and lead. Those people who support MSG should not forget that the problem extends to excess lead content.

• There is an increasingly growing trend of junk foods and that needs to be stopped at some place. It is high time such kind of products should be prohibited from market.

• The chemicals present in Maggi and other noodles are harmful for children and often lead to weight gain, liver inflammation, brain damage and other severe health problems.

No

• US FDA considers the addition of MSG to be “generally recognized as safe.” Although there might be some people who are sensitive to MSG, but that doesn’t means Maggi should be banned.

• MSG is naturally present in many regular foods, like tomatoes, cheeses, potatoes and mushrooms. People across the world have consumed glutamate-rich products throughout history.

• There are many other junk foods available in the market which in no way can be termed as healthy food. If Maggi has to be banned, all those foods should also be banned.

• Don’t forget that Cigarette and tobacco consumption is legal in India despite the fact that they have harmful impact on health.

Conclusion

There is an increasingly growing trend of fast and junk foods In India. The availability of such foods makes children and youngsters careless about their health. It becomes tough for parents to control eating habits of their children. There is a need of change that can be witnessed through stringent regulations. It is a high time to take some strict measures against the companies that follow negligent approach in food production process.
The strict steps should be taken not just against Maggi but all the junk food should be evaluated on health standards and a stringent action should be taken to save the coming generations.

  • Yes, Maggi should be banned completely. No advertisements should be displayed. The companies sell all the unhealthy food stuffs at cheap price but people don't realize that. They should think that why previously it was banned and now it has been removed.
    Chinese food itself is unhealthy.

  • Yes I think it should be banned if the food inspectors have really examined that there are obvious reasons which would severely cause harm to the health.....
Yes there are many other junk foods in the market which should also be examined by the food inspectors... And give a verdict on them also...

  • hi guys,
according to me Maggi should not be ban in India.as all of u know Maggi is the one of the favorite food in India.all of u aware of the 2 minute Maggi advertisement .its one of the food which is cheaper and take less time for cooking.
then i over come to led and msg present in the maggi u know guys led is mainly present in maggi because due to present of led in maggi it cooked fast .then i talk about msg. msg means monosodium glutamate according to usa fda it is nt harmful ful except some people. u know guys msg is present in tomatoes and potatoes .
then another point is that if u banned maggi then y u does not ban the other harmful products such as kurkure, pepsi kurkure also contain plastic which is harmful for our health .there are lots of product in market such as cigrate and alcohal why u dont ban all this product .so according to me maggi should nt be ban in india.
    thanks

  • In my Opinion, Maggi should not be banned because India is one of the only country in the world where 50% of the whole population is under 25 years of age and If we look at these 50% population, Mostly all of them are studying and just started their career's journey. So, Maggi is the staple food for those youngsters and they find Maggi as Fast to cook ,Easy ,And tasty food.

  • I still mesmerize the brand advertisement of Maggi noodles that would pass by on the TV screens. But all of a sudden fall has amazed many of us,we even see that packets of maggi noodles are being burried openly in public places.the entire management which are involved in production should take pricautionary measures to bring maggi to its original state. We also know that maggi is not banned in the entire world,in some countries maggi is declared safe for its consumption while in some others it isn't.Suppliers and producers in both these scenarios need to find out the root cause of this destruction. Then only the problem will be solved.
I also agree that it is one of the junk foods that influences the health of growing children and adults but I think consumption in a moderate quantity would be ok.

  • As we all know what an amazing impact the maggi noodles had on us since our childhood days. It almost became a part of our food culture. Now since the maggi has been banned, i hvnt seen any advertisement of either maggi products or any other noodles product on TV. what happened to other companies? Are they now afraid that their product will also be checked? Yes,, why spare them? Check their food too.. Why stop with maggi ? Though the topic is about 'ban on maggi', i would support the cause for banning every product that unhealthily alters our body function. By banning maggi our govt. might hv 'saved' the children and other people of our country from consuming toxic. But what about guthkha, pan masala, all other tobacco products and etc etc..??. Since FOOD AUTHORITIES cannot roam around streets of India and find toxic eatables, I suggest the govt. by any other possible means, like public opinions, should target on removal or i wud say eradicating of toxic foods from people's reach.

Also, before completely banning maggi, govt. should hv worked wit Nestle in finding the root cause of the problem. They should hv tried to revitalise the children's fav. noodles instead of direct halting. I support the ban of conpletely hazardous food but i also support the possible improvements in removing those toxicity from foods that becomes nation's favorite. I would like to know more of your opinions.

  • Hi, I think that maggi should b banned coz we already have many bad food items in our market .there is no need to add on one more in it ... We all have to be very health conscious n d food department should have an eye on each n every product in India n they should inform to all about d pros n con's of the food items ...
Maggi has lead n msg which is very harmful for us although some of d food items are also hvng d msg like tomato, mushrum n so on but their is very less quality of msg but in maggi it too high so we need to hv concern bout our health .
    Choose wisely live well.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -tejas grover (07/08/15)
  • Good evening everybody

In my opinion maggi should be banned because it is not good for health. The number of harmful elements it contains are much adverse than the little bit of nutritional elements. The amount of MSG it contains may skin rashes, itching, nausea, headaches, heart irregularities, damages the intestine etc. one more important thing to note is the maggi is coated with a layer of wax which the body takes 4-5 days to excrete the wax after you taken the noodles. I strictly believe that banning maggi is the best of ensuring good health. In a recent study it has been found out that process food is one of the most important cause of cancer. we Indians are among the very few priviliged people who are provided with delicious taste of home cooked chapati and we should respect that. Eating processed food has become an addiction which is an alarming situation in itself
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Biswajit Giri (07/08/15)
  • I am in favour of maggi. I don't think it should be band.afirst and foremost reason is that there are other more harmful junk foods than maggi.not only these junk foods we can take an example of cigarette and other narcotics.I would rather say that it was good to know that we got know about the harmful contents of maggi. This will create great awarness among people. No doubt that people will eat less of junk foods as well as maggi but I don't think banning maggi is a good idea.If it is to be banned then the law should be same for all other junk foods as well.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -ankit patel (07/07/15)
  • i think that maggi is one of the fast food not only in india but also in world produced by nestle .
which devlope so many food product. if maggi have any gradient more then requirement then govt give an chance to nestle company because it is a old company.
    1. in big 5star hotel is too dirty where whole country eat food with great royalness.
    2. in india we see that 100's of people die due to wine .then wine is banned ??not because it is one of mean of revneu.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Rahul Chauhan (07/07/15)
  • yes, Maggi should be banned; Our government should take a strictly step on bheaf of the issue ,
but i thick after banning the Maggi - The company can sell his same product with the different brand and also sell it in many other foren country as i read in a newspaper.
so we should properly burn the root of the company by banning it whole over the world.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -morsew (07/07/15)
  • in my point of view ,maggi is not good for health.but, especially ,children are fond of maggi. according to food regulation act ,maggi have to be banned.and moreover what i am going to say is if gvt suddenly ban the supply of maggi ,people will depress .instead of banning the relavant department have to give warnning to those compines which are generating junk foods with lead and all those chemicals.and for each turn of production of these foods a regular checking should have to impart.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Manohar (07/07/15)
  • The people who work in Lead acid battery and paint manufacturing ,never touch the lead it is so dangerous .... But small children EAT maggi and share maggi in school... How dangerous it is to consume....If children loose their health in their childhood it self how can they give healthy generations ?....
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -anonymous (07/05/15)
  • According to my point of view Maggie should be banned because it contains lead which is harmful for children as well as young people who likes to eat it. in fact not only the Maggie but also banned those fast foods which is harmful for us.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -sanulatajena (07/04/15)
  • No Maggi should not be banned bcz its very delicious ?? to eat thatsway all of like to eat Maggi.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Anita jain (06/23/15)
  • Other junk products should also checked which are circulating in the market like cold drinks , pasta ,noodles and other products live milk and sweet. As there is also sometimes news of cheating in all area of food item circulating in market even water bottles provided in train has not pure drinking water ,So in my views all food purity and its effect on people health should be checked like Maggie .As playing with people health is not a good and fair game .So Maggie and other food items should be banned who doesn't fulfill slandered which are set fully .As health is wealth If we see its taste then we will lost our important wealth that in health , That in necessary for living being to live life and to be enjoy there life fully some sacrifice is needed for avoiding Maggie and item available in market like this .
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -abinaya (06/23/15)
  • Yes maggi should be banned because many children eat this maggi and more chemicals are been added and due to this some get affected and some die by eating this one so ban all the products of maggi and chemical added products
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -saurabh singh (06/18/15)
  • As far as health is concerned ,maggi should be banned, because it not only contains many harmful chemicals but also taking the place of nutritional and healthy snacks like pohha,idli,dhokala,e.t.c.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -PURNIMA JAIN (06/18/15)
  • according to my opinion, maggi should be banned. I can support my argument with certain facts. as maggi is one of the junk food which causes several ailments in our body. MSG and Lead is very harmful chemicals and are present in Maggi. No aware person will drag himself to the death by his/her own hands. Then why should we prefer Maggi even after being aware of its harmful consequences. Generally people argues that in today's fast world Maggi is a rapidly cooking food. But in reality its not so even if we measure time for cooking Maggi and our Indian food-Poha both took same Time. whereas poha provides both nutrients and taste. So one should prefer health instead of delicious enemy.....
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Soumen Maity (06/18/15)
  • See, I watched many people said that there are many junk foods which should be banned. On this matter I just want to say that Maggi is different from those junk foods.

First of all, those junk foods mostly sells on the streets. FDA is not going to take a look in every street sides if there foods consist of harmful ingredients.

Second thing is that everyone loves Maggi, children to elders, everyone. So it might not be so much harmful for elders(as many elders are alcoholic or smoker or both) but it has a tremendous negative effect on children.

Now lastly I want to say one thing that, manufacturer of Maggi knows that everyone loves Maggi. In spite of that they still mixes Lead and MSG knowing that it could be harmful for children(as they are particularly not addicted to cigerates or alcohals and also many of them are prohibited by their parents to taste junk foods).

So, I think it is a crime, Crime of intentionally force a nation's people to taste a harmful thing.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -SIDDHARTH (06/18/15)
  • hello guyz.
in my point of view ,banning maggi is not so good as improving it.
the govt will have to take responsblty to make sure that good food is coming in market or not.
as we all know that childrens and youngsters has habitat of maggi..
maggi is part of colege days now. instead of banning fully in india ... they will have make good decision in improvement of maggi..
if maggi is not good for health..then how can ciggrets ,pan masalas are good??
they wont do any thing in respect to most injurious products like pan masal,tobbaco,cigrtt.alcohol...etc.
instead of banning maggi govt should take action on it.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Sushmitha.p (06/03/15)
  • Gud eveng my Dr frnds.
According to my opinion magi must be banned , not only maggi all fast food and junk foods. Bcz it contains poisonous chemicals. Which is going to damage brain and liver. Not only maggi, all eatable fast and snax like. Lays, kurkure, horlics, boost, borvita, yipee noodles, topramen, cool drinks like, Pepsi, coco cola, 7up, sprite, n chocolates. Etc. . these kinds of foods are adulterated and it contains color which is going damages health, instead of spending money to these kinds of food. Spwnd money to vegetables, fruits, and grains. Which is rich food and healthy food. Instead of improving multi national company market. Spend money to vegetables and save Indian market and farmers by this economically our country will improve. Not only maggi , foods like pizza , burger, mc- donolads and k.f.c products and also sand which. Avoid these foods . those people just making money by attracting youth , youth health is spoiling, by this we are going loose 1 generation people, by this we are going to loose our life at early age only. Please Dr friends I beg u people not have these foods. We having much healthear food than noodles and maggi. Maggi products, cool drinks, tabocco, and chips kind of products must be banned. Spend same money to vegetables. Save our farmers financial and save our country economically. Thank you.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Grv_kr_singh (06/02/15)
  • In my opinion banning Maggie can't be the solution ,as there are many other brand which will be benefited from this as Maggie is their prime rival.
instead a comprehensive and regular check can be the solution which will keep in check the composition of these food item ,mere banning and then sitting un till next such incident comes in light will not help.
The official have to actively take part in checking thethe supplies composition.
  • RE: Should Maggi Be Banned? -Nida Tahreen (06/02/15)
  • In my opinion maggi shouldn't be banned. As we all know maagi has become an unseperatable part of our food, it is favourite food of every indian no matter what's the age.It is easy to make nd also content nutritional vale like cabohydrate, protein, iron. As we are hearing these days dat the amount of lead is more than the necessary limit.if it is like that then we should warn the company and stop the dispatching of high lead containg maggi in market but not banned it totally.
As we student staying away from our home and are not skill cook we cook nd eat maggi easily.
In today's market there are also many product that should be banned that are deadly hazardous to not only for our health but also for our society our family.
why goverment is not taking care those thing those things should be totally banned.
But goverment get heavy dose of tax from them dat's why he is playing with peoples life.
This is the problem of our corrupt system where they need to take action firmly they looseand where they need to warn nd make chsnges they only make big issues and do nothing at all.
so maggi not only the problem the problem is the system. as we know maggi is fassai register if it so how in market lead containing maggi are sold.
if the government had to do something repair ur system .
