Difference between ODBC and Net8.

ODBC is databasing independent where as NET8 is database dependent.

ODBC is used to connect to any database that is supported by SQL on other hand Net8 is an Oracle protocol which is only used to connect to Oracle database.

Net8 uses the Transparent Network Substrate (TNS) and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) is based on the Call-Level Interface (CLI) specifications.

ODBC uses drivers for connecting to various database but NET8 user network listener for connecting to Oracle database.
